Mountain Brook Firearms Sale Ban

I haven't read the article yet, but I heard on the radio this morning that Mountain Brook has banned the sale of all firearms. This apparently was triggered by someone asking for permission to start selling high end shotguns and rifles in their sporting goods store.

Supposedly the ordinance says that Mountain Brook doesn't mind people keeping and bearing firearms, but they don't want them sold in their city. Looks like the first step to banning them entirely to me.

Maybe I'm naive, but since when do you need permission to sell a legal product (other than alcohol) in your store? I also don't believe they can legally ban the sale of firearms, but I'm not a lawyer.

I know we have some members who live in Mountain Brook. I they should voice their opinions to the powers that be in their city.
