Practical Pistol
Match 101
Held on the 1st Wed in May,
then 1st and 3rd Wed from June through August, starting at 6:00pm
Match Fee - $10
The new Practical
Pistol 101 match is designed to introduce new shooters to the world
of competitive shooting. Based in IDPA, it will also incorporate
elements of USPSA, and will feature stages that a beginning shooter
will be able to navigate. This match will be designed so that
beginning shooters can learn the gun handling skills, and rules of
the games so that they will be better prepared to compete at club
level and sanctioned matches. The match will be open to all
shooters, but will not present a challenge to veteran competitive
shooters. Scoring will be divided by experience level. Veteran
shooters (those with more than 1 yr experience) will be scored
separately from new competitors (those with less than 1 yr
competitive shooting experience). Some of the skills we will be
emphasizing are
-safety
-proper gun handling
-range etiquette
-safety
-shooting while
moving
-safety
-reloading
-scoring
-rules of the games
-safety
-shooting moving
targets
NOTE: Due
to extremely high attendance at this match, I will need all those
who have never shot in action pistol competition to pre-register
with me at
daveshoots45@gmail.com. Furthermore, it
will now be necessary for all new shooters to arrive NO LATER than
5:30 to be able to receive an adequate safety briefing. In order to
provide new shooters with the proper level of instruction and
supervision, I will be limiting the number of first time
competitors to 10. Again our goal for this match is to introduce as
many folks as possible to action pistol competition, with an
emphasis on safe gun handling.
